Karuna Karmarkar is a Los Angeles based set decorator for feature films, tv, streaming series and commercials.

She is best known for her work as set decorator for Damien Chazelle's acclaimed Academy Award winning drama WHIPLASH (Sony Pictures Classics) nominated for 5 ACADEMY AWARDS including BEST PICTURE.

Her most recent project LADY IN THE LAKE, a 1960’s true crime series for Apple TV+ starring Natalie Portman, won the Set Decorator’s Society of America (SDSA) Award for Best Limited Series. As decorator, she established the permanent sets for the DISNEY+ MARVEL series MS. MARVEL, and MAYANS MC, the SONS OF ANARCHY spinoff.

Her commercial work includes campaigns for Apple, Venmo, Dorito’s, Meta, Volkswagen, Pepsi, and Miller Lite. She has decorated music videos for artists including Normani, Anderson. Paak, and Katy Perry the previous for which she was nominated for an ADG Award in the short form category.

She studied at two of UCLA's leading art programs - the School of Design Media Arts and the School of Film & TV - graduating with a Bachelor of Arts from UCLA's Film program.

Karuna is also a photographer. A collection of her work can be found on ODDITYPHOTODIARY . She is a member of the Set Decorator's Society of America (SDSA) and the filmworker trade union IATSE Local 44.
